Its the question I'm asked most often: How do I properly care for my henna body art?
Proper henna body art care
Hour One- Do not touch your henna tattoo for at least one hour. In the first 10-20 minutes your henna tattoo will become dry and hard and you will no longer have to worry about it smearing or smudging. This does not mean your art should be handled or touched.
The longer your art is allowed to stay on the skin, the darker and richer the tattoo will be and the longer it will last.
Hours Two to Four- Your henna tattoo will begin to fall off of your skin. This is to be expected. The stain will be bright orange for the first few hours. It will turn dark brown within 24 hours of the application.
Please do not get tattooed area wet for 24 hours. Apply olive oil liberally as often as possible in order to keep the skin moisturized.
Hours Five to Twenty Four- Your tattoo will gradually become darker, being its darkest within 24 hours of its being applied.
Day One to Day Fourteen- Apply olive oil before and after the shower to keep skin moisturized. Apply vaseline over tattoo before entering any chlorinated water. This include pools and hot tubs.
